Mission Statement

Digital Story Telling Trail

Oconto has a rich heritage of history and natural resources and we are eager to share it with others through this series of videos highlighting our community’s history and natural resources.

The adults and youth of Oconto’s Promise invite you to explore their history trail that leads from Copper Culture State Park through the city of Oconto out to the state-owned Oconto Marsh.

Each video is tied to a physical location in Oconto, and has a map associated with it. It is our hope that you find your way to our community to see these sites first- hand.

The History on the Bay trail is also available as through an app, which can be downloaded at the iTunes store as UW-Extension Learning Portal or through your android device (UW-Extension Learning Portal).

To access the videos and maps from this webpage, please click on the tabs to the left. We recommend starting with the Trail Map, which will give you an overview of our community and the video points that we have developed.

This work was completed by the youth and adults of the Oconto’s Promise, in cooperation with the Oconto County Historical Society, the city of Oconto, the Oconto Unified School District, Department of Natural Resources, and the University of Wisconsin-Extension. The Oconto’s Promise is especially grateful to the community of Oconto for their support in developing this project.
