General Information

The Oconto County Jail strives to provide the proper and humane treatment of the inmates housed by guaranteeing their constitutional rights and providing protection for the safety of the community. The jail is run under the authority of the Sheriff following Wisconsin Statutes and the Department of Corrections administrative code. The oversight of the Jail is done by Jail Administrator Carol Kopp. She became the Jail Administrator in 2010 and is a 20 year veteran employee of the Oconto County Sheriff’s Department.

The Oconto County Jail has 56 inmate beds. We are a liner/dorm style facility. This is made up of 14 maximum security cells, 5 female cells, 8 medium security dorm beds, 18 minimum / medium security dorm beds, 1 special needs cell, 2 segregation cells, 4 isolation cells, and 4 receiving cells.

In 2012 a total of 1233 inmates were booked into the Oconto County Jail. 966 of those were male and 267 were female offenders. The average daily population in 2012 for inmates housed at the Oconto County Jail was 52.83 inmates per day. Overcrowding requires us to manage our inmates by housing them at the Marinette, Forest, or Shawano County Jail and during 2012 we housed an average of 13.52 per day inmates outside the county.

Should you have further questions about the jail please feel free to contact Jail Administrator Kopp at 920-834-6917.
