General Information

The Oconto County Jail strives to provide the proper and humane treatment of the inmates housed by guaranteeing their constitutional rights and providing protection for the safety of the community. The jail is run under the authority of the Sheriff following Wisconsin Statutes and the Department of Corrections administrative code. The oversight of the Jail is done by Jail Administrator Carol Kopp. She became the Jail Administrator in 2010 and is a 24 year veteran employee of the Oconto County Sheriff’s Department.
The department is staffed with 25 Correctional Officers which includes 5 Sergeants and 4 Corporals.


The Oconto County Jail has 56 inmate beds. We are a liner/dorm style facility. This is made up of 14 maximum security cells, 5 female cells, 8 medium security dorm beds, 18 minimum / medium security dorm beds, 1 special needs cell, 2 segregation cells, 4 isolation cells, and 4 receiving cells.

In 2015 a total of 1436 inmates were booked into the Oconto County Jail. 1098 of those were male and 338 were female offenders. The average daily population in 2015 for inmates housed at the Oconto County Jail was 74.31 inmates per day.
